Where your child goes next
Most families start at the beginning and move up when their player is ready. Kids grow at different speeds, and that's fine.
Learn to Skate
At Detroit Skating Club. Needed before any hockey program.
Learn to Play
Sunday nights. All hockey skills, grouped by age and skill.
6U house team
Future Stars, 2X or 3X a week. Half-ice games.
8U house team
Future Stars, 3X a week. Feeds the USA Eagles club.
Travel hockey
Plus weekly Advanced Training to keep growing.
Want to move up faster? Most of our players who made travel early also skated in the weekly 6U & 8U Accelerated program on top of Future Stars.

Questions
How do I contact you?
Email only: Team@MotorCityHockey.com. We answer within 48 business hours. We keep rink time for the kids, so please don't stop coaches on the ice with questions.
Where are skates held?
Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, on Rink A or Rink C. Each program lists its rink and time.
What equipment does my child need?
Full hockey gear for every program: helmet with cage and mouthpiece, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants, shin pads, skates and a stick cut to chin or nose height.
Perani's Hockey World on South Telegraph in Bloomfield Hills can fit everything.
My child can't skate yet. Where do we start?
Finish a Learn to Skate program at Detroit Skating Club first. Once your child can cross the ice without a coach's help, they're ready for Learn to Play on Sunday nights.
Do 6U and 8U players need USA Hockey registration?
Yes. Register or renew with USA Hockey before the first skate. First-season players also send a photo of their birth certificate to team@motorcityhockey.com.
What if we miss a skate?
Weekly training follows the ALL IN policy: no make-ups or credits. For Future Stars house teams, just mark it in TeamSnap.
Can I pay over time?
Yes, on programs that offer a plan. You pay a deposit, and the rest is charged monthly on set dates to the card you saved at checkout. The dates show before you pay.
